Title: French style Boulle clock
Post by: tsmith on July 03, 2012, 06:04:18 PM
Hi guys, my uncle found a nice clock and he asked me to find out a little about it, for example age, value etc.
It's below, I think it's a beautiful piece, the photo is all I have of it sadly. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated,
thanks, Toby

Is there any writing on the inside? Usually where they would keep the key. Is there a name on the face? Nice clock by the way.

Sadly, this is the only info I have about the clock, my uncle only gave me the photo and said, "what can you find out about this lovely clock?" Sorry I dont have any more info

Can he make a photo of the side and back? Or could he open the the back? I'm trying to see if it is French. Does he know if it is French?

Posting them side by side (or top to bottom, depending on how they show up here).......for easier comparison

You'll find several similar examples doing an image search for 'kingwood bracket clock ormolu' (BTW, 'ormolu' refers to the application of finely ground, high carat gold to the piece)

I see some of the tops are different. The one I saw was auctioned off for $4,000. Maybe my book is not accurate for today, plus I wasn't sure it's the same. The top is different, but I see that in the examples from google.
