Title: What did these bottles hold?

I have two of these as pictured. They are about 6 or 7 inches high. One is a reproduction and the other is original. They must be well known for there to be so many reproductions of them. I have seen them recently in retail locations. My reproduction has a clear label on the bottom that says San Francisco. They both have a cork with a metal cap and ring for pulling. The difference is the metal is much heavier on the old one and the cork is worn out Also the etching is smoother on the old one. The glass is also different from one to the other with the seams more pronounced on the older one. Were they used for toiletries? Which do you think is the reproduction from the pictures

Well,, iffen I were to guess,, bottom would be the original, and probably held rosewater !! Very popular in Victorian era for ladies !!

That would be a very good guess. And yes the bottom one is the old one. Not too hard to tell.

I have seen this particular style/design/stopper and it was for the woman's vanity table!

I have seen places that date them to 1930 - 1950.
