Okay I'm not sure about a couple things. First, I'm not sure if I should post this here or somewhere else. Second, I'm not even sure what this is. I'm calling it a pendant, but I don't know if that is right. I just thought I would see if anyone here just happened to know what it is or has saw something similar before. I've taken it to several dealers and I'm always hearing something new, so you won't surprise most likely.
I would love to hear any ideas or suggestions where to post it to find out what it is.

Yes, several hands on inspections. I heard that it was jade, soapstone, fish bone, horn, bone and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. I just don't know if its worth a dollar or thousand dollars. I put it up at a ridiculous price until I find out what it really is and what it is worth.

At least your ebay pics are better than the ones here !! That bird looks like a turkey,, and you can clearly see holes from the back where a string or cord would have let it hang straight !!

What do you think I should pull the price down to? I was hoping to wait until I had a few offers and put in at an auction around the middle range of what people offered for it, but I'm just not sure. I wish I could find out more about it.

I feel like that guy at the party that expected a disco theme. I dressed up, I brought a gift, and it turns out I was invited to a performance art piece of Mozart as a dinosaur.
The link doesn't work, I don't know what everyone's talking about, and the only thing I can add to the conversation is a very awkward rendition of the Bee Gees.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.

Yeah, I saw in the link that the picture(s) had been taken down.
I have no idea regarding anything in this thread! :o

I thought the same thing about that bird after seeing it. A turkey would indicate a North American origin I would think.

Hahaha! Well they pulled down the post after I listed somethings I thought it could be made of. I put down the word "Ivory" and it set off alarms and bells everywhere.
Here is the new link and I will update the first post as well:

It shows no crosshatching that you would see on ivory, and it does not show characteristics of bone that I can see !! Wish those pics were on this site so I could see the enlargement !! I am leaning toward soapstone or a similar material !!

Yes, and that bird DOES look like a turkey!

It's original posting is June 10, "I am stumped".
