I can't tell from your photo how it functions. My first thought was that it is a hair receiver, but the squirrel seems a bit unusual for a hair receiver. can you show how it opens up... if it opens.

Is it glass or ceramic and what are its dimensions?

It looks like it is a lid for a decorative container.

Agree cogar!  Doesn't appear to have any functioning/mechanical parts.  OR....like anything else that doesn't get found out....it is a paper weight!

Multiple holes in the lid...it's an incense burner. ;)
