Hey Everyone,
First time poster here (well, actually 2nd, as I posted on the wrong section....). I picked this piece up at an antique barn this morning for $10.
- Does anyone know what it is?
- Does anyone recognize the marks on the bottom?
- Bronze maybe?
Thanks!

The green verdigris would suggest brass !! Brass is an mixture of copper and zinc in varying amounts and turns that color with a bit of age and exposure !! From Italy so its likely just an import piece !! Don`t recognize the symbol !!

Is the fact that it's brass a good thing?
-
Agree on the verdigris, but the bottom looks like it's been painted an aqua color. That, in combination with the shape of the handles, suggests 1930s-1940s moderne/deco.
And yes, brass is a good thing.

Very cool. Thanks for the feedback. Now to figure out who the maker is....

Do you guys think it's a candy dish?
-
Seems too big for that...
-
Shape seems to suggest a holder for dried or otherwise artificial flowers !!

Greece? That's Italy written on the bottom.

LOLOL ghopper1924....we all do that sometime!
Appears to be a planter base to me.

Maybe they meant the shape was Greek inspired !! Hard to say the item is from Greece since it states on the bottom "Italy" !! I know they are close but there are import, export regs !!
