Title: TNT Detonator Box
Post by: trooper on October 26, 2004, 12:43:41 AM
I would like to know the value of this item. Does anyone have any experience with antique mining equipment? I would say that this unit it approximately 100 years old; it has a charging handle that engages a set of gears that turn a armature housed in a stator assembly, which generates the spark (basically the same principle of a starter motor or alternator). Suprisingly, this item is in excellent condition. I'm sure I could get it to work if I opened it up. It is serviceable and is built very well; an item truly from a better vanished time.  All help will be greatly appreciated.

So, are some of these units more valuable than others or are they all relatively priced the same? Are there any books that I could refer to, regarding identification? I would like to find the exact year and make of this unit. I didn't see any markings other than the alphanumeric serial number stamped on the charging handle.

 most are trade named. atlas for example could bring $300.00 dollars.

How are these units identified? What do I look for? Are there any books available that would have the different models of these detonators?
