Title: Vintage Ceramic Vase Identification - Type & Artist
Post by: KevinM on August 04, 2012, 06:25:01 PM
I picked up this ceramic vase a few months ago from a thrift shop and was hoping someone could identify it or know a few things about it. I have searched and have not found another one like it or who the Maker/Artist who made it is.

The Vase is about 8 Inches in Height, the Top Rim is about 4 Inches in Width and the Bottom Rim is about 3 3/4 Inches in Width and the Widest part of the Vase in the Lower Center is about 6 Inches in Width. The Vase is a little dirty and the ceramic (or porcelain?) is probably a brighter white color.

The Vase is made of some type of ceramic and is very thin and light. It is hand painted with a floral design and signed with what I think is the initials "L B" on the Bottom of the Vase. When the Vase is pinged with a finger it has a ringing sound like Glass or Lead Crystal Glass.

What I would like to know is who "L B" might be (If it is an "L"). Also, the Vintage of the age, the type of ceramic and style.

Thanks!
Kevin

I don't know who "L.E." is, but by the shape of the vase and the style of the flower, I'd guess 1960s or 70s.

The initials are not a makers mark but could possibly be the decorator !!  Shape and style indicate late 60`s or 70`s !!

mart, the porcelain (or ceramic of some type) feels smooth but not glazed. It is definitely not glass or coated glass.

To me it looks like a L.B.
