Title: Can anyone tell me if these items are antique?
Post by: Bumbul25 on August 06, 2012, 02:43:51 PM
Hi everyone,

I just found couple of items in my parents attic while helping them sort out stuff for their garage sale and I found these items.  Can anyone tell me if these items are antique and if there worth something?  thanks!

Your pictures are sideways and confusing. It's better to post one thing at a time so we can really see them. One looks like an antique napkin ring. The lamp I really can't see well. I not sure what the other thing is because of the picture.

Hard to say if the napkin ring is antique or a replica.

The lamp looks to be mid-20th century.

The clock may be ca. 1910 or so. It's hard to tell when it's upside-down! ;)

The clock is now sideways! ;D

I've got a somewhat similar Seth Thomas mantle clock in a rosewood case ca. 1910 that was worth about $200 8 years ago. It's probably worth about $100-$150 now.

The napkin ring has engraving I think and would be better if cleaned with a good silver polish !! Silver wasn`t made to leave tarnished,, it will ruin the finish eventually !! Value depends on if sterling or plate and what it looks like when cleaned !!
Lamp is pretty common and likely would only bring about $10.  Looks like the bottom was touched up at some point but may just be the pics !!
Round item has feet and is likely a serving tray !! Can`t tell what it is made of but if its wood with inlays,, about $40.
Clock looks early 1900`s mantle clock but face is in poor condition !! Does it run and is anything written on the face ??

I'm going to clean the napkin ring with silver polish,  I'll post a pic when im done,  the clock is in workin condition and there is no damage on the face.  The lamp is in mint condition with no touch ups (must be the picture).  Thank you mart and ghopper1924,  I appreciate the feedback.

Could be the pic on the lamp !! I meant the yellowing of the face of the clock !! Was it in a room where someone smoked or was there a fireplace ??

The lamp is done in the style of a horn of plenty - very popular in the 30 - 50's.  Is it ceramic or chalkware?

Can't enlarge these on my computer!  Sorry can't offer anymore.
