Title: Arcadia Handmade in U.S. Zone Germany
Post by: ACStanley on August 11, 2012, 12:13:19 AM
I picked up six of these lovely glasses today. When flicked they have a beautiful ring to them. A couple of them have a sticker that says Arcadia Handmade in U.S. Zone Germany.

I have seen two listings for these cups (smaller) on ebay but both have stickers of West Germany

I know that these date from 45-49'

But Im unsure of the company history, are they collectable? and any thoughts on vale are always appreciated =)

Thanks!

Sounds like they were made in the U.S.-occupied section of W. Germany, 1948-1989 or so.

I do know Arcadia was an imoprt export company during 40' & 50's They also sold crystal  made in Hungary & Czechoslovakia but not much info on the company itself.  The beautiful ring when flicked  is due to the fact that they are crystal. I would say $30.00 for all six cups.

HAHAHA - I took a tea spoon and tapped every glass I have in my apartment... I did find that I have another set of crystal glasses - That set has an absolutely beautiful ring to them! Each of those glasses have a beautifully hand-painted duck on them with gold trim on the top and bottom.

Thanks for the info!
