Title: Enamel on copper box marked H (or 4). Marty.Limoges
Post by: dbsmith on August 12, 2012, 08:51:47 AM
I received this box as a gift from my husband several years ago.  The dealer didn't know anything about it (thought it was maybe from 1920's), and I haven't been able to find a similar box.  Could it be Henriette Marty?  The date would be correct.  It's about 4" wide and 2" tall.  Any information would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Thanks - I like it too.  The other box that I was able on the internet to find actually had a name.  Is there anyone I could contact to find out more about this particular box?  Did they mass produce items?

These pieces where not mass produce items, I don't think you understand what you have  ;) These pieces where created by master craftsmen during approx. 1920s until the 1950s in the city of Limoges. Alexandre Marty and his daughter Henriette worked alongside Camille Fauré together they developed direct flame and drip techniques as well as [Fauré's] most important discovery, the ability to sculpturally build up the surface of the vase with thick enamel. The secrets behind these enameling techniques
were closely guarded. You will find no 2 pieces alike!

It will bring that much easy ghopper , not much of her work around for sale. Camille Fauré pieces I have seen sell as much as $6,800.00 for a vase.  If anyone see  beautiful French enamel work in the style of Marty or Camille Fauré and it is at a good price I say buy it!!

I found this one, but it isn't enameled on the side.  In terms of pattern, is one more desirable than another?  BTW, my husband is very pleased with himself.  Of course, I found it, and told him I wanted it for Christmas.  But he is taking all the credit.

Honestly I think Alexandre Marty  his daughter Henriette Marty and Camille Fauré pieces are so far and few between for sale I personally would purchase any I could find (prices that I could afford) Art deco patterns seem to be more desirable! But I love the floral patterns done by Camille Fauré on vases. And OMG your husband does deserve all the credit 1 he listened and 2 he remembered and purchased it!! :D

I'll let you know.  I'm going to Bouckville soon - I'll report back if I find anything.  Which are more valuable, boxes or vases?
