Title: Pre World War 2 Era - German binder/briefcase ?
Post by: nerdy153 on August 18, 2012, 02:06:57 PM
This seems to be a german military and/or goverment briefcase from the paul von hindenburg era in germany.

On the back it says Vera Schreibmappe D.R.G.M

I honestly have no clue for what this was used for and if somebody knows the origins of this briefcase that would be absolutely great

It would appear that the reason for the vast difference in prices is because the latter one contains letters & documents & pictures, here is a translation of the German text,

Business card and documents. Light brown leather wallet with dark brown reliefiertem Weimar Hoheitsadler, Brown, moistened food inside stamped "'Vera' writing set Word protection". Business card "General FieldMarshal 1925–1934 and Hindenburg". Lying a memorabilia such as a letter to the Bavarian Prince Regent Luitpold 1907, poem "Cross of iron", two photos of Hindenburg funeral-signiertes "v. 1925–1934 and Hindenburg" in 1934, and by the revelation of the Hindenburg bust in the Berlin armoury in 1935, special issue "The week" about the "day of Potsdam" 1933, as well as damaged, anti nationalsozialistis ches poster "select Hindenburg!" "On April 10"

Its not really a case of who used it....as there, were hundreds if not thousands of these made, they were a common item in the 20,s/30,s...as for the DRGM...this is the design makers mark
"Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster!

Hi, I disagree the meaning of DRGM is Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmust er or registered design of the German Reich. This is pre 1945
