Title: Vintage Libbey Glass Cocktail + Linnen Cocktail Napkin

Hello!

Here I have a lovely cocktail glass and napkin set, the glass in marked L (Libbey).

Q Does the reverse L help date Libbey Glass?
Q Any thoughts on the glass age?
Q Does the application of the cock and being two tone help date it?
Q Any thoughts on the napkin age?

Glass -My thoughts - The glass is from the 40s, early 50s, from what I have seen the cock on cocktail glasses was popular from the 20s- early 50s also I know that Libbey had a different mark for glassware from 37' and back.

Napkin - My Thoughts -I am thinking that this is from the late 20s early 30s this is due to the fact that the only examples of these I have see are from that time

Measurements -

Glass - H 4 1/2" W Base 2" W Mouth 2 1/2"

Napkin - L 6 1/2" W 4 1/2"

Also! Is it okay for me to post an item in the forum that I know is not an antique? Please advise. Thanks!

Sure its OK !! If the definition were that strictly adhered to,, they would have run us all off !!

If I had to guess the napkin is 40`s or 50`s,, glass may be a bit later !!

Many collectables are not old enough to be antique yet !! And for some of the younger set,,70`s are old !!  So we just kind of go with the flow !! And not eliminate anyone that truly wants to know about an item !! After all they are antiques of the future !!

1950's to early 60's for sure - we had the same glasses growing up!  They were the rage at that time period.  So alot of baby boomers like the nostalgia  - but not rare.

Lots of women's clubs, bridge meetings, teas at that time when women like to have special items to use!

Yes Ace script uppercase "L" in circle - backwards when viewed from the base does indicate an older  Libbey mark.  How old I Just can't pull that info from my tired brain right now :) I will take 2  glass books to bed with me tonight and read up. Crystal dreams all

I'm guessing leftover stock with decal placed at later date and sold late 50's
