This is a painting I purchased at the thrift store a few months back because I liked it and I'm trying to figure out what some of the writing on the back says and who the artist is.
I like the work and the theme of the 4 Boars with 1 of them standing off the other 3 boars and a bird in the sky (vulture of some type?) circling above on a cold winter day.
I realize the painting is not that old (1992) but I thought since a lot of people on this forum know a lot about paintings that perhaps they might be familiar with Russian artists or even better know Russian! :)
I did put this through the google translator but could only decipher the word mockba being Moscow.
Thanks for any help!
Kevin

In Russia they have all kinds of paintings done on all kinds of mediums. One of my most favorite paintings (that wasn't confiscated by the goverment when I had paperwork to prove it wasn't a historical piece) was painted on cardboard. They used what they had and used it well.
THe first parts are names
Kabanov Canvas, Moscow size

Thanks mart and KC, that certainly answers some questions I had!
BTW, has anyone heard of an artist named "Whalen" I have a sorta abstract mid-century-ish southern US swamp or cypress type oil painting by that name. I'll post it in a new topic.
