Can anyone give me any info on this? I'm really wondering how old this is-it is in excellent condition and just gorgeous but wanted some history on it. Thanks ahead of time!

There are lots of them out there! Touted as lipstick or cigarette music boxes. There are even more on ebay...just listed some. Nice piece!

Reuge factories are all in Switzerland I think (from my googling), so I'm not sure about that "Made in Italy" sticker....may be a reproduction.

Sometimes manufacturers will buy the music pieces and made the outer parts. But, buyer beware....due to the price tags of these items, repros are out there.
That is correct, Reuge is a Swiss made music box.

Reuge make the musical movement...they may not make the Carousel....that can be made anywhere else,...as in the Capo de Monte Carousel..we all know that Capo De,s are made in Italy...but it has a Reuge Movement.....a bit like my last car...it was Japanese...Made in England!!

Also-90% of them say Capodimonte-is that even true?

Capo De Monte...has a crown mark with an N below...but they are not solely made in Italy...they can be made elsewhere,then the Capo signature is added later...a bit like making something under licence, ...take Mercedes Benz engines for instance....I also had a 4 x4 that had a 5 cylinder Merc engine....it was made in S Korea...but it had Mercedes on the Block

Yes, it is confusing. But the music boxes are made by a different company.
Many people know the "appeal" and $$$ of Capodimonte and then label their items as that....proclaiming it is a style and not a particular company.

that is exactly what they do,, confuse everyone !! for years this has been done !! swiss mechanical, porcelain or other types made in a second place,, perhaps decorated and put together in a third place !! world trade at its best !!

All the major manufacturers do it...take Nike...for instance....their ranges of footwear are very expensive....but 95% of all their merchandise is made in Thailand....S Korea..etc...cheap labour vast profits....but its still called Nike...

Here,s a cracker....KerryGol d pure Irish Butter.....made in Yorkshire....Englan d....The wrappers were printed in Ireland...then sent to England....and as Mart says...and i know...it happens everywhere....I,ve seen Genuine Scottish souvenirs....with a made in China logo,....a friend of mine recently took her kids to The Warner Bros Harry Potter Experience in London...she bought a replica Harry Magic Wand...with Warner Logo,s all over it....cost £25.....made in China....cost to make £1....its called good business.....
