I,m feeling a bit lonely here,...as i write there,is only me and 20 odd guests on at the moment....come out, come out, wherever you are..... :D
-
I keep forgetting that i am 5 hours ahead of everyone else.....and that you may all have jobs ,unlike me...but its comforting to see more names than just poor old me.....
-

Only 4 out from me (I think) ;)
What does it feel like to not have to drag your ass to work every day?? I'm too old for this and 7,8, 9 day stretches are killing me real fast.
-
Believe it is "Olly olly oxen free"! LOL Played that as a kid! My older brother would yell that and then cheat!!! Never trusted him! :)
-
Just had to google that! Quite the variations......I'm sure we've all heard at least one of them. Now I know how it originated! ;)
-
I might not have to drag my ass to work every day....but i,ve got to drag the wife,s ass every day,and i,ve got another 15 years of it,as she,s 12 years my junior.. and she can,t drive...and anyway i did all my ass dragging for 45 years...and what did it get me "apart from the nice house new car,big boys toys"...it got me buggered knees, arthritic fingers type 2 diabetes,....as for the rest, i love life and long may it continue..
The one good thing that come,s from dragging her ass to work,is I get to be the boss of the house,..that is until i have to go and drag her ass back....then she,s the boss....and i become the manservant again.... ;D

Least you got me between swigs of pepsi this time. ;)

I,ll tell you this...i watched my father work until he was 70...he never took holidays.was never on a plane,or a train...all he did was eat work sleep,..then for the last 7 years of his life...he watched paint dry...he had no hobbies nothing...then he died....I vowed never to end up like that,I worked hard for 40 odd years,..had good holidays, saw some of the world...met a good woman when i was 50...she was 38....i retired at 58...i,m 62.now,...and since coming on here my brain has had a new lease of life and as each day passes,...i look forward to speaking to you all....even although some of you think I speak a foreign language...no names mentioned :D

Now that I understand! :D
Believe me, when you grow up with family that is half Irish and half Scottish descent and the majority of those still spoke the Gaelic.........you can at times recall a lot of the 'good old tongue'. Mind you, the swear words were the ones to last longest in the memory banks. ;)

I dragged my sorry A to work for 40 years. Now I only go from the kitchen to wherever I feel like sitting. I write for the internet and I smile when I see the NY traffic reports. It does take a lot of discipline however. Especially when the weather is gorgeous and the ocean is only ten minutes away.
Bigwull. I do work for a couple Ukrainians. Very difficult people to figure out. They seem like you have to pull a smile out of them.

Hang in there Bigwull, I know what you are saying. I'm doing great now, but three years ago I was bald, sick as hell and still dragging myself into work as I went through chemotherapy for breast cancer. In many ways this forum helped get me through that. It was a bright spot in my day and I could still be my "old self" here and talk antiques with good friends and not have to deal with the battered wreck that I had become. This forum is much more than a digital resource, but has in many ways become what has often described as an "antiques family".

I wholeheartedly agree, with you on the family side....i,ve only been here a tad over 2 weeks, yet its like i,ve been here forever...and am now part of the woodwork...the warm welcome that i received, and continue to receive...warms the cockles of my heart......and its activated parts of my brain that, were ...for so long in a state of hibernation...i have to say though that, there has been a few times when i,ve nearly put my muckle feet in it....thinking is he, a he, or is she, a she....then nearly calling he a she, and she, a he,.....now i,m getting confused...like you for instance ...i thought you were a he....but your a she,...and its nice of you to take the time to speak to me....
-
This is better than family...at least here you don't have to worry about anyone showing up unannounced for an extended visit. :D

Oh! i,ve been there...an old friend who i had,nt seen for nigh on 5 years appeared at our door one night....how he found us is still a mystery to us,as we.d moved twice since last speaking to him....he had a suitcase in hand...and invited himself in..and a week later...he ceased to be an old friend.....
