Title: Help needed. Trying to identify details about two figurines.
Post by: Sally99 on August 29, 2012, 04:13:32 PM
I have two figurines - a boy and a girl - that I am trying to find information on. Where they are from, age, who made it. Even though they really aren't the nicest of thing, they have quite a sentimental value to me as they came from my great grandmother who died quite some time ago. I always remember them being in her house, but I have zero idea on anything else about them. There are no markings on them that I can see, so I can't even begin to research them that way. I am just curious to know a little more about them, so any info would be much appreciated. Link to picture below.

If they are not marked I would like to see their faces better.

Ditto what frogpatch said.

There were/are lots of knockoffs!

Found this little girl from lefton   http://www.blujay.com/?page=ad&adid=1381097&cat=28050228  Looks to me as if yours is a knockoff, maybe from japan?

I've seen these and actually have a few-they are Japan knockoffs I do believe-certainly not Hummels

I have to agree on the knock off. Here's another shot of the figurine by Lefton.......too similar to not be an obvious copy.

Thanks very much all of you for your response. I'm not trying to make a 'quick buck', just interested in the origins of these two. They will continue to watch over all in my little knick knack room full of sentimental garbage.

Sally99, EVERYONE on here got here just to find out information!  So, feel at home!

There are many who try and find out if they got a "great deal" while junkin.  There are whose who inherit and are seeing if there is any value (when the true value is in the love that the deceased had for their items - making them priceless).

Irregardless, as you can tell we like helping out. Sometimes the news is really good and sometimes it isn't.

I have some items that are "worthless" as far as monetary value...but because my kids gave them to me....are priceless!!!!

So, join in....who know....you may end up being a great authority on these items some day!  :)
