Title: small painting, yard sale or no?
Post by: greenacres on September 06, 2012, 09:57:04 PM
I won this paintinting in an auction 15 yrs ago. I paid $17.00 for it. It's an oil on canvas and it's framed really well. I tried wiggling the canvas to see if I could see the name better, but couldn't.Is there any  other way? Is it a yard sale possiblity or is it better than that?

Seeing what I see , perhaps a G sale item ... however ...

you could remove the stretcher-frame (the one that the canvas is stapled to) from the picture frame & get a good view of the sig .

Can't tell is the canvas is pre-gessoed , or gesso by the artist .

By itself wouldn't bring much in a garage sale....but the neat thing that I have seen happening to these types of items...write a favorite/popular quote or verse on it and it sells like hot cakes!!!

Another hot item that is catching on, on Pinterest!

is the signature under the frame ??  just take the two nails out of the back and lift it out !!  from what i see it was not a professional artist nor was it framed at a shop so just a hobby piece and a garage sale item !!
