Title: Any ideas?
Post by: nmp on September 07, 2012, 08:51:59 AM
I came across this piece and have no idea what it could be. I've been scouring the internet for the last three days trying to find any clues about the logo, but am finding nothing useful. I've consulted a few other people and they have come to the conclusion that it was maybe used as a bolt for some sort of fabric, or leather, but I just don't know.

Measurements:
L: 18"
W: 7.5"
Thickness: 7/16"

Thank you in advance.

There was a silent movie in 1929 by that name. It could be a show poster.

The words "Vrai 'a la fin"  are in French and mean True to the end.
"Blackmail" was a movie by Alfred Hitchcock in 1929....and the posters do not look like anything like this or have any indication of being related.  Although it was a British thriller, drama.  Wasn't French!

the conclusion that it was maybe used as a bolt for some sort of fabric, or leather

Now why would anyone put an advertising decal on the bolt itself? ??? ???

so when they sold all the fabric,, they would know what company to re-order from !!  wouldn`t need it before it was empty !!

I agree Mart.  Just can't find anything, fabric, rope etc with that name.  Not a registered name.

It is made of wood, which makes you wonder if it was for fabric, since those were not, and still are not, typically made of wood. It has really been a chore of trying to find any information on it.

Thanks to everyone that has chimed in though.
