I just posted a thread regarding a piece of carnival glass that had belonged to my grandmother. I also found this piece, but THINK it is either a reproduction or not a very good quality piece of carnival glass. The luster is not nearly as nice as other pieces I have seen.
What do you all think? Am I starting to develop that "glass" eye? ;)
Also, any ideas about the stamp on the bottom? (What do they call those stamps? - I have soooo much to learn!)

Glass eye,....Na its too big for that... ;)

Didn't get me that time.......my glass was empty. ;)
Kimmie, wait on Wendy! She'll be the one who can certainly answer your questions. If it's not already stored in her head it'll be in one of her library of glass books.

Bigwull - I had to laugh. I am a high school science teacher with a rather "dark" sense of humor. For Christmas last year, my husband purchased an antique, hand-made, hand-painted, glass eye from German for me. Had to laugh when I read your post! Plate = glass eye? Cyclops, perhaps!

I happen to have a couple myself, and I don't think it's Fenton Carnival glass. I don't see a similar pattern there, but it would be better if you got a picture straight down so you could see the pattern better.

I tried to get a picture straight down, but the image was too large. Would it be better if I just cropped the picture that I had to include only the image on the plate instead of the whole plate? That would be easy if it would help.

If correct, this is an Imperial Glass Mark, 1951 - 1972 - G imposed over another letter I.

You are all getting way to good at this!!! ;) Rauville NICE!!!! Kimmienemo the reason The luster is not nearly as nice as other pieces you have seen is the finish (iridized luster) was achieved by a spray process on the surface of the glass before firing, this can be effected if scrubbed with harsh chemicals and the dishwasher will also destroy this iridization. Warm water mild soap and buff gently with a soft cloth to dry only!

thought that looked similar to one my mother had as a wall hung plate back in the late 60`s !!
