picked this up as i liked the look and feel to it.
Haven't been able to ascertain where it comes from, how old it is or what it was originally used for (whether it was just a household ornament or possibly had a specific application such as church vase etc)
Have shown vase next to tin of beans for size.

i think its an insert for a larger pot or vase....you see similar things at the base of headstones...
-
it may also be a small posy holder....

Thanks for the opinions, bit of a puzzler isn't it?
As its made of lead i did have a thought that it may be some sort of "inner" recepticle, although as it has detailing on it this swayed me a little.
Unless of course the detail was added later.

The mere fact that its lead...is an indication..of it being an inner receptical...of something bigger...as lead was used extensively for holding liquid in the late 1800 early 1900,s..i still hold with the thought of around a gravestone...or religious item...
