Here are some of the old straight razors that I found when going through my father's things. They were in a plastic bag in his garage :-[

Trying to post the picts, but I keep getting the message that the server timed out. Is it me?

OK. . . I figured it out.

Cut throat razors..which were common in barber shops right up until the 70,s/80,s over here and some of the older establishments will still use them..if asked by a customer, have you got the leather strop...for sharpening them.....they were a much favoured weapon of the Teddy Boys...over here in the 50,s....especially in Glasgow....

Can't help think of Sweeney Todd ;)
Hey, Bigwull. . . did you see that wood and glass "thingy" in the other post? I remember sitting in my grandfather's barber chair (I have one of them, but I need to restore it). I remember watching him sharpen the blades with a strop, the hot towels, the wonderful soft talc brushes, and a lot of the barber shop goodies. I just don't remember that glass thing!

Mentioning butcher, one the the straight razors was made by Wade and Butcher in Sheffield, England. I found that funny. (Kind of like the time I saw the signage for a chiropractor. . . his name was Dr. Bender! No kidding!
