Does anyone find it odd that we can read bigwulls posts now and actually know what he is saying ??? Well,,, most of the time anyway !! LOL

I think your "coot" rack is cast iron, not wrought iron. Without labeling of any sort, I can't say whether it's from France or not, but it very well may be. Where are you located?
I'd give it a date of 1860-70s. Are there any condition issues? These things can be worth some coin; I'd check the internet for comparables. $1-$2K.
It's a beauty! Nice find!

I am located close to dothan, al.. it has been in a house in a small town clos to here. they said it was at that house for 100 yrs.. everything, including the mirror, is in good condition.. and all the pieces are there.. there is a stamp on the bottom of the umbrella pan.. but i can' t make it out.. all the hooks are there.. it looks like some of the nuts were replaced on the hooks
-
quintnkim, do you have a magnifying glass that might help with making out the stamp? Try looking at it in daylight and at different angles. If possible a picture of it too. ;)
-
Or try doing a rubbing.
