Hi everyone, I have just purchased some plates which I have attached pictures of. They are marked Austria with what looks like a letter "R" above it on the back. They are both hand painted and are loverly items. Can anyone help identify the age and makers? I would be so grateful, thankyou in advance for your help, Julian.

Hello,
It looks like an LR to me and I believe I just found the mark indicating Limbach but there was no information other than that. I will try and post the link.

The first page shows the mark as #86 and the second page shows that #84-87 are Limbach est. 1761 but that is all it says.
I am sure someone else might have more information for you but it might be a place to start.
Welcome to the forum.

Hey thankyou, thats a good start but the top of the R doesnt quite look the same to me but I guess there would be variations of it. Anybody else seen this colour sceme of paintwork as there is a kind of pinky wash around the painted scene?

Your mark looks like a combination L and R.
Maybe Chris with Porcelain Marks & More will drop by.
I am skeptical when there aren't any easily comparable and readily locatable marks.
