Just back from more foraging.at my local charity shop...got 2 items....one which will please the Boss....and the other...well, i let you all know later....
The bible is a leather bound edition....from the Fireside Bible Publisher,s..Wichita Kansas...
this area had an American base close by...so i assume that,s how it ended up here...its in very good cond, and full of colour pics it measures 14in x 3in thick....might come in handy..if a leg ever falls off our bed....it cost a measly...£4....the other item is a Royal Doulton Mystical Bunnykins....its 4.1/2in high...and is in pristine cond...I paid £12 for him....and i know Avril will be pleased....

Well not really...at first glance when i joined here...i read gopher...and i know what that is...a wee furry creature that lives in a hole in the grund...just like a rabbit...but you call it a mutt...but looking at ghopper..now its near being an anagram of gopher...but with one pea to many...am i close on any of this :D

A ghopper is simply a grasshopper, somewhat abbreviated. It's an in-joke with my wife and I, who have known each other since 2nd grade.

Too cute. That's what came up, but never heard of it. So, do you look like a bug, lol or eat bugs? ;D Where does the nickname come from?

I hope I don't look like a bug, and I don't eat them, although with Missouri's economy in the dumper it might yet come to that.
When my wife and I were in 2nd grade, I used to show my affection for her by chasing her around the playground with grasshoppers. Although it scared her back then, we've come to laugh about it. In fact, we have a small cast iron or ceramic grasshopper in each bedroom of our house, just to remember those times!

That's so sweet. I was 17 when I married my husband. He is 6 years older than I. I understand, ;D I'm married 34 years. I hear what your saying with the economy. If they find one new tax or raise workmen's comp, or medical ins. I think we will explode! I got a bill from the state about a month ago, they said they made a mistake on figuring our unrmployment rate they wanted $12,000. Are you kidding!! What do they think we print the stuff. My husband told them he'll go out of business first(in that name) then pay it! I never knew we had built in partners. I tell him the gov't should hang us by our ankles and take every cent!

My feeling is that the bible is made to look far older than it is, not that it isn't nice.
Greenacres, Missouri's economy is the worst in the midwest and we're getting ready to re-elect the governor that got us here.

Some things never change...we.ve got a bunch of politicians in Gov.that are so detached from reality...that it beggars belief...The inner circle..or Cabinet as its called over here, from the Prime minister down...are all multi millionaires,...and in the last budget...they cut the rate of income tax for the super rich...then reduced the pensioners winter fuel allowance from £250 to £200...now they want to take away the free bus pass...from pensioners...but can find £12 billion, to give away in overseas aid....our fuel costs are 2nd highest in the world...gasoline per gal...has dropped a little but still stands at around $10.50, heating oil...kerosene is 67p per litre..and electricity is at an all time high...and it will rise by 17% this month...the only saving grace is ..interest rates for mortages..as been at 1/2 of 1%...for a good while now...but savers rates are non existent.....all this and we are an oil producing nation....Ha.....

What good person would run! They smear your name in the dirt and you have to financially be a zillionaire! All you get are ego maniacs. They have no clue what reality is! The bankers should be in prison for treason. They destroyed our country be selling bad mortgages, lawyers for suing anyone they can to make a buck!

I've always stood by my belief that countries should be run by 'housewives' who have raised a half dozen kids and kept a home running on one income. Those are the people who can not only make everything run on a budget, but also know when and how to say you'll get what you need and what we can afford NOT what you want or think you should have. Everyone gets their fair share, nothing more and if it's less, then they aren't the only one doing without.

You have hit the nail on the head Sapphire.....I will never understand how a politician, who is a multi millionaire...can ever be in touch with the people....they have no sense on reality....they live in the nether world...what do they know about hardship...juggling figures to make ends meet...there have been times when Avril and I have had to "steal from Peter..to give to Paul"....and there,s only the two of us..I feel for those that have children to feed, and run a household..on a basic wage....When I think of the millions that are spent...on wars..that can,t be won...and then there is the politicians...who think its their right to have their snouts stuck so far into the money trough,....it makes me so angry...i,d better stop here as i feel a Rant coming on...... :( >:(

The pendulum has done swung too far left off-center to ever swing back.
The politicians now know they "have a Tiger by the tail" and if they don't keep feeding it "more n' more", ...... it will turn upon them and devour them, along with everyone else that has anything that they think they deserve to be given part of.
