Title: Pre-Arthritic finger day,s
Post by: bigwull on October 03, 2012, 05:18:29 AM
Hi, all just thought, i,d share with you,what i was capable of,...before arthritis crept into my fingers...this little diorama measures 6in x 5in..the scale is 1/35...and it depicts a 3.7cm AA Flak gun enplacement, in North Africa 1941...I built this approx 15 years ago...and this is all that is left of a vast array of models...that i had...dust collectors as Avril calls them...the figures are 1.5/8ths high,..and the gun came in kit form..as did the figures...the sand bags i made from modelling clay...and then the gun and figures were painstakingly hand painted and weathered..

That is some pretty cool intricate work there Wullie - I wouldn't have had the ability (or the patience) for that before the arthritis and carpal tunnel.   8)

An incredible job on the 'aging' (of the figures that is......not you)  And the sandbags look so lifelike it's hard to believe you made those from clay. Amazing attention to detail and great example of patience. (now get it back into hiding before the 'dust collector' hits the dust bin to make room for more.)  ;)

You did some fantastic work, and recreated a true moment in history.

I would hate to tell you how I spent my spare time years ago...but I will.
I loved to take scraps of old wood that should have been discarded and reassembly them into my own idea of what "Grandpa might have made years ago".

Here's a sample: "Mama's getting a new ice box for Christmas".. ::)
