Hi all Long time no see. I know you need pics but this is a general question. I have a plate that has a hand painted portrait on it and the word Sorrent on the back. I can find nothing for Sorrent only Sorrento but definitely no letter O on the end. Has anybody heard of sorrent china/porcelain/pottery??? It is old

No, but sometimes fakes are made and done similarly to make people think they are buying an original when they are not !!

sorry are you saying its a fake? Am not clear

Amiga, what Mart was saying is that there is a good possibility that it is a "fake" piece because of the misspelled name of a highly collectible artist or pottery.
For instance, if you purchased a piece of signed "Tiffeny" thinking it was a super-duper great buy, .... you would be wrong ...... because the great buys are signed "Tiffany".
A per say "misspelled" name doesn't violate Trademark Laws.
