i have a metal jug of some sort about 5inches tall the top part comes off.There is a flip back lid with 2 acorns.At the base there looks like a family crest. Could anyone tell me how old it could be.iv'e being trying to put a pic on but no luck.

Hi..........sounds like you might have a stein. Mettlach was one of many manufactureres. Hard to tell what you might have.
