Got a stumper here and would like to know if any one knows what this set if for. Comes with a Pan that appears to be a silent butler, and a strange pair of scissors with candle snuffer. Thanks for any help you may offer.

Here are those strange scissors...

It's a set for dealing with candles. You have the extinguisher (top piece), the snuffer (the scissors with the little box) and the box for putting all the cut wicks into. Can't tell from your photos when it's from.

KC, We need to put it in high gear !! Been watching election returns and couldn`t type fast enough !! Excellent gg27 !!

Thanks for all the reply. As the items are unmarked, I could not do a quick search at work, and they was something of a mystery to us. Again thanks, now I can post them tommorow.

Thank you! Not often I can get in on the action, but just happened to be here at the right time. (Not really my first post, I had another user name, but had a stalkerish person commenting, so I got a new name)

That is fun of this wonderful family we call The Forum.

Never a dull moment here!

Yes, it's a candle snuffer (the cone shaped thing), wick trimmer, tray for the scissors, and I saw one site that named the lidded object with a handle as a "personal ashtray". I'm not so sure about that, but it appears to be for some collection of waste, similar to a 'silent butler'.
-
talesof, you are correct! It is a personal ashtray! These were very common in the 50's - 60's.
-
I thought it was for dumping the wick catcher when it was full !! But I do remember those from 50`s !!
-
No kidding! I thought it was probably not listed correctly!

They typically have lids and finger rings for extra secure holding ability!
