Hello guys,
this is my first post on the forum.
I come from Hungary and my family have a mansion which we are selling. The potencial buyer doesn't need the furnitures so I decided to show the better pieces here, I am thinking of selling some of them later.
Unfortunately I can't give you too much information at the moment about the pieces, as soon as I will have more info about the date etc. will let you know.
-
The first one is in my opinion a very nice chandelier, it was made around 1720 if I well know, it has been restored (gilted) some years ago.
-
If I well know these furnitures are called as empire style?
-
I think most of the furnitures were made in the baroque era.
Here are some more chairs and chandelier.
-
The chandelier is beautiful.
-
Are there any markings on the furniture at all? Names etc. Is the wood "Flamed Mahogany"? I more question ;D Is it french?
-
The black pieces look to be Ebonized....if you can give us some pics of the rear,of the large piece..and some pics of the drawer sides....in order that we can determine...which way the dovetails have been cut....and to see what wood they are made of...

I think this is your furniture. Beautiful pieces.

Hello,
thank you very much for your comments, I will try to make new photos, there are much items, I just don't find the pictures yet.
Yes, its exactly that ebonized Napoleon, I have a book from that will try to scan it later.
The price I found very high, we bought them for 2000 $/piece.
I don't know about the markings will check all of them.
Do you have any idea how much the first chandelier would worth?
Kind Regards,
Hans

I found your settee for $2,935.00. For some reason it won't let me cut and paste. I'll check for the chandelier.

When was the first chandelier wired for electricity ??
Hello Mart,
well I don't know when was it first wired as we bought the mansion 7 years ago and the chandelier was with it already wired.
-
How old is your house?
Your furniture pieces are not baroque, but rococo or renaissance revival, mid 19th century.
-
Hello,
well the furnitures were not in the house, we bought them, only the chandeliers are belonged to it. By the way, the chandelier is made by wrought iron.
About the house:
It was built in 1753, the current design was finished in 1820.
Here are some pictures about it:
-
Your house is very charming.

This looks loke the same company. Haven't found your exact chandelier yet.
-
I not sure, but I think it could be a Tole chandelier. I'm still checking.
-
Where are you located ?? Its a beautiful estate !! First one reminds me of Christmas card pics !!
-
I'm guessing from the member's name (Hans) that the estate is in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.
The chandelier may not have been wired for electricity until the mid 20th century. Was it candles before that? If so, it could date to the early 19th century or even the 18th, it's hard to tell from the photos.

Hello Mart,
I am from Hungary, Vasegerszeg a smal village near the Austrian border.

I really think that all of the Antique-Shop Forum Regulars need to go for a "hands-on" inspection of all items to help this poor individual out! :/ After all, it is the least we could do! LOLOL
My mouth has dropped open! Thank you for sharing all the pics...it has helped me go on a mental holiday!!!! (Hush Wullie....I know you will say I am always on a mental holiday!)
-
I am with you KC !! "Hands on" is the only way to do it !! Think we could talk Hans into it ???
-
Well, if you get a cheap flight to Salzburg in Austria...then hire a car...you,ll only have 251.84 miles to drive, to get to Vasegerszeg,...or you could fly into Amsterdam...then take a tour of Germany ,Austria...then on to Vasegerszeg,....but that will mean 780.43 miles....there....b tw...the sz is pronounced like sh..."Vasegersheg".just thought i,d add that,to stop your tongue getting tied in knots.... :D
-
I'm in....

I'm in....
