Hi, I'm new to furniture restoration and have bought what I believe to be an old hall table from a local ebay seller. I don't know anything about it even though i've tried to date it using numerous google searches etc. The drawer is dovetailed and i believe its by hand not machined. If you can offer any information at all that would be great. thank you

Are you in the UK ?? The wood on the back and sides is not the same as the front or the legs and looks like a plywood type !! Can you tell if it is a solid piece by looking at the edge ??

Haven`t said anything yet !! Just looking and asking questions !!

Legggies...differen t from...hips.....ply wood.....ring any bells...... ;D

I would agree on age, 20's - 30's, maybe even very late teens with that style of leg, English oak hall table. The front drawer just has the nicer slab of oak than the flat sawn sides & back.

You would think that but,,stain color and oxidation are not the same !!

Who me....You more like....may i remind you.... ;D ;D

No !! Was referring to gg27 that the front had the nicer slab of wood !! A table that was intended to be seen from 3 sides would have been at least a close match !! Lesser quality was sometimes used on the backs of some tables !!

I've looked at it again, I'm going to stand by my original assessment til we get more information. :-\ I think that the flat sawn oak on the sides & back might just have a different look grainwise than the drawer front. It's so difficult to try to judge whether furniture is in original condition from pics on the internet.

Maybe we will get more info today !! Age of the table is not in question,, was thinking some repairs possibly had been made !!~
