Seen that also but think the are replacement screws . There's some trace of it being attached with rivets once instead off these screws.

Or simply a decorative dish like we would use for candy, mints or nuts !! May have had glass liners for each pocket !!

Can you please give the dimensions of:  the entire piece, the small mold area.

Reminds me of molds used to make cakes of soap for laundry.  Any markings on the mold itself?

Could be a soap mold !!  Gotta watch that lye soap,, get it too strong and you won`t need to shave your legs !!

That is what I was thinking mart when I put that earlier.  My grandmother had a mold that looked more like it was for mini loaves of cornbread or bread...and this reminded me of it.

This isn't typical of butter molds.

I once had a primitive wooden sugar maple mold that produced "loaves" roughly that size.

Maybe a clue could be where it's found by me ? Comes from the North off Holland where there's a lot off water sports and boat building happening during the centuries . So maybe a link there ?

I assume it is “cast” brass given the fact the leg supports are soldered in place.

And the fact it has a handle and the sides of the compartments are all “sloped” makes me think it is a “serving” piece for mints, candy, whatever. Like one often finds on counters, desks, end tables, etc.

I was thinking it was high in order to cool off after melted items were poured in.
