I am trying to get more information about this metal piece that my grandmother just gave me.
Apparently my grandfather found it on an abandoned Palestinian village during the Israeli independence war on 1948, although this could have happened little bit earlier. That is all I know about it. I don't think it's economical value can be too high, but I would love to somehow give it back to his owners or his descendants. I know it would be quite difficult to track them. But still would mean a lot me, and probably for them as well.

What is it exactly ?? How big ?? Describe as best you can !!

It is about the size and sort of the shape of an ashtray. Although, I would not think is an ashtray. Will attach some other pics. Thanks

Have you thought of taking it to a local mosque? Maybe they would know what it was.

I found more results googling on 'middle east' & 'bowl, 'brass bowl', 'Mamluk revival' etc....
