Hi Everyone-
I found this old metal cabinet at a salvage yard & have been unable to find out what it was used for. I've searched every resource I have available, but to no avail. The cabinet measures 19" wide, 39" tall, 6" deep. There are no shelves in the cabinet & it appears to have been recessed into a wall. The "horizontal door" on the top opens, but does not have a knob. The larger "vertical door" does have a clasp, but no lock.
I would greatly appreciate any ideas as to how to research this, what this cabinet is & possible value.
Thanks so much - Jeanni

The bottom has a finger lift latch doesn`t it ?? Are there holes along the interior sides ??

It looks like an old laundry hamper. You feed the top and empty from the bottom. The holes were to vent it to prevent mildew. Just a guess. Or maybe for storing rags.

A medicine cabinet?

Thank you so much!
Yes, the bottom door has a finger latch. The only holes are on the front of the cabinet. Would anyone know a ball park value?
Thanks, again - Jeanni

Vintage built-in laundry hampers from the 40's to 50's. Although couldn't find one exactly like it...found this on and the person also referenced one she had growing up that was pink with flower vent holes!

"The built-in laundry hamper. This isn’t the one I had, mine had these cool flower cutouts on the lid! And was 50′s pink!" http://ryoko861.wordpress.com/2012/08/06/remembering-my-laundry-hamper/#
