Title: silver tea set
Post by: sevans24u on December 21, 2004, 08:40:57 PM
 I have a silver tea pot, coffee pot, cream and sugar bowls.  They have the marking of GH, lion, crest, Queen Victoria.  It is a rose pattern carved on the sides.  There is Ivory set into the handles.  Can anyone help me to identify this, and give me an approximate age value?

Thanks

Not much help perhaps, but a direction:  British

http://www.925-1000.com/british_marks.html (http://www.925-1000.com/british_marks.html)

this site is a primer, and an excellent site to start from:  first, tho' I would go to a jeweler to determine if sterling, or plate, or that particular British plate called Sheffield.

I'm a web researcher, primarily in pottery/porcelain, tho' I love all the great old household items - but NOT qualified to appraise - sounds like you have clear impressions of the marks

Best wishes, and if there's something further I can help you research, please re-post.    KB
