Title: Manning-Bowman & Co Electric Bed Warmer
Post by: debbie on January 27, 2013, 11:04:36 AM
This is british made and still works.  It is three pieces; the warmer that you fill with water, the electric base and the cloth cord all in great shape and still works.  Found in a house I renovated.

most likely 1920,s....this was a natural progression from the bed pan filled with hot coals...but this contraption..would have been used by more wealthy people..as most working class house,s in the UK..did,nt have electricity..until well into the 40,s...value wise..i,d say..it has a novelty value..of £30/75

You might also want to state in your Ebay listing that although it works, it is being sold as a collectible and is not considered safe by modern standards for use as a bed warmer. I don't think I would want to risk the liability issues that could result from someone using this kind of thing.

;D ;D....i think like me..your first thought was..electric/water...no.no...but when you look at it..its just a metal hot water bottle..that sits on the hot ring..like a saucepan...then when its hot..you pop it under the bed clothes..

I see what you are saying, the electric heating element doesn't go under the covers on this one does it?
