My wife bought this at an auction seven years ago. She swears it is worth money and I think it's junk.
It is made of a light wood.
It has no manufacturer marks.
It is about 12 x 6 inches
When you rub your hand on the picture on the lid it is bumpy
The circle thing with lettering on it I think is brass
Thanks for all who help

The finish does not appear to be old lacquer to me. It looks too shiny and new. I would say it is modern, but I would not call it junk either, just reproduction rather than antique.

You wouldn't happen to know what exactly it is?
By the way--Thanks for your help

That is the Chinese zodiac on the brass piece, I doubt you would find that on old piece, I agree with tales that it's modernish. It's hard to tell from the photos exactly what is what, but it kind of looks to me like a dresser box.

Thinking 70s, 80s here. Not worth much.

Looks like something you'd see in a Chinese restaurant.
