Hiiii!! :)
I have two side tables, and a dresser that were given to me, they are a little worn but i was told that they were worth a lot of money. I don't know why though?
There is a sticker in the inside of these drawers that say 'Decro Cabinet Making' with an address and a phone number. I googled the company name and nothing comes up, i googled the address and it's Australian made, somewhere in Victoria.
I've uploaded some pics of just one of the side tables, i will upload the dresser if any body thinks its worth while doing.
I'm also unsure as to whether or not i should have these items restored or sold as is in its original form?
Thanks,
Loren

Yes,, we need to see the dresser too !! And take a close up shot of the dovetails on the sides of the drawers on both,, where they attach to the front !! Quite a bit of damage to the top,, is that a crack where the wood has separated ?? Also where are you located ??

Decro are more difficult to find on the internet than you'd think, considering they designed furntiure for the Australian Prime Minister's office.

Several addresses in Coburg but this appears to be their most recent

If you look at this link, this company has made furniture for Decro and something like yours is in the top image

Your furniture is reproduction, in my opinion, and was made a few decades ago but designed to look older. They appear to have been damp at some point, or the paint was poorly applied - unless Decro partially restored the drawers and the fronts are original.
More pics needed

Not getting that "big bucks" feeling, unfortunately. :'(

No. Nice for a very large Sindy doll though....
Just kidding but Pedigree Toys did go for that style

Based on 1850s and 1920s prototypes. Unfortunately those above do not share the build quality and materials of their predecessors. Not worth restoring. Just put another coat of paint on them.

I LIKE IT!
It appears there were two pieces of wood used to make the top...and it has separated over time? (most likely due to moisture.) OR a weak piece of wood that got tired to "holding on" and gave up the fight and separated.
Agree that it won't be worth $$ for you to retire on....
I would first think that it was a repro of an earlier style like seen from France, Austria, etc. Would still like to see side pic of drawer pulled out and dresser!
Look at the cracks n bumps as aging and personality traits. If we were all disposed of because of those it would be a very lonely world!!! I would repaint and if need be get a piece of glass cut to cover the top...and stick some vintage photos under the glass! Whala - a gorgeous piece!

I am with you KC !! Nice style, simple but classic !! Just fix it up and use it !!

Again, these are not the quality of their French or Austrian prototypes, which might be mahogany or rosewood. Repaint, don't strip!
