Title: Copper Distiller?

Any ideas on what its use was?

Has removable, graduated ringed lid.

Copper Water Bath?  is what i have just come up with. used in labs but for what exactly?

Well, Actually the correct term is "Copper Water bath" , and this one is from "A.H.T CO in Philadelphia Early 1900's. They later changed their name to Thomas Scientific in 1983. The Water Baths are still used today. This device is used for regulating the temperature of substances subjected to heat. The vessel is surrounded by another vessel containing water which can be kept at a desired temperature.

You have answered your own question !!  Excellent !! As to what was necessary for a water bath !!  I have no idea without googling for an answer !!  I am sure there were many or companies would not have made those copper pots !! I would assume that the rings on top could have beed added or removed to make it fit the desired size !! Excess steam would have been vented through the tube on the side !!
