Title: Stainless steel swan
Post by: Codyv20 on February 05, 2013, 10:00:05 AM
My grandfather wanted me to find something out about this swan. We couldn't figure out what it was, what it was used for, what the bottom says, and what it would be worth. Thanks a lot.

I know it isn't Nambe, but it looks like it. It looks like it says 1 of 2. Is there another one?

Thanks Cogar !!  Didn`t help much though !! Still couldn`t make out the name !! It looks to me like one of a pair of bookends !! The bottom looked like it was done with an electric engraving tool !! Its a series of small dots but there is a shadow of something else under that !! Bottom numbers I think are 1962 although the 9 looks like an 8 because of what was under it !! That would be the date I would guess this piece would have been done !!  My opinion is that someone engraved their name on the bottom for insurance purposes and maybe the year it was purchased !!  Didn`t find any outstanding art pieces that were similar !!

I think what you have there is a name and a date.

Could have been made at a works using spare / end of day material like they do at glassworks.

A bit of history from your grandfather is what's needed here

Exactly what I thought...engraved with one of those home engravers.

Looks like 1362 to me.  Maybe a special number to them.

Decor item.
