Title: Gold Ring

I was given this ring by my great grandmother a long time ago,it has to be dated around or before 1925 does anyone know what the hall mark means,

The first two letters are the makers mark..then the 18 is the carat...the thistle within the mark..tells me that its an Edinburgh Hallmark...and its late Victorian...circa 1880/90

I would have to see a photo of the piece, but given the shape of the cartouche & the style of the date code, I think it may date to 1933.  I also couldn't find this maker.  Unfortunately I'm on my way into town & won't be back until tonight, hopefully someone else will come up with some more help.  GG

edited....  Just dug out my Bradbury's.  The date letter & cartouche is for 1924.  Sorry for the confusion.  GG

Well i haven't seen the ring but the marks are for retailer Marshall And Sons 1807
