Judging from the construction..I,d have to say 1920/30,s...value over here in the UK..40GBP/75...but could be lower...or a tad higher...but no more than 100....

Mid to late 40`s maple chest of drawers !! These things last forever !! Later in the furniture evolution these were used in kids rooms because of the size !! Not too big,, not too small !!
-
Yep, mid 20th century maple. Worth around $50-$75.

Hey guys,
I'm trying to learn, here...so what lets you know it's mid-40's? It's solid wood (except for the ply bottoms)...other than that, is it the style of the handles that tips you off as to the year?
Thanks!

It may be mid 40,s on the other side of the pond..but on the UK side..i,ll still hold with 20,s/30,s...and its known as a 2 over 3 Tallboy here....had it been an earlier one..e.g.mid to late Victorian..or Edwardian..then it would have been wider than it is higher....but as the 20/30,s progressed peoples houses were becoming smaller and the need for large furniture was waning...also had it been on this side..it would most likely have been made from Oregon Pine...which is also known as Yellow Pine....and this was used extensively here in the UK during Victorian times...for furniture making, doors, facings and skirting boards.and sliding sash windows.....

LOL !! Many years of following styles and trends in furniture as well as how its made !! Late in the 40`s styles were becomming less ornamental than in years prior !! Only in certain circumstances do the pulls aid in identifying furniture because of the ease that they can be replaced and many times you will see pulls/hardware that are common to one style on a piece that is not what you would expect !! Another thing is that the manufacturer of that hardware did not stop just because styles in furniture were changing !! They produced as long as there was a demand for them and they were selling !! To do anything else would have meant they got stuck with a backlog of unwanted pulls !! If they did they would have done the same as today,, dropped the price a bit,, furniture mfrs. would get a deal,, and they were used on the next furniture line somewhere !!

What Mart said! In addition, maple become a common material for bedroom sets in the 40s and 50s. Materials + style will usually give you a useful range of years for dates.

Yes indeed !! Its really not difficult if you look at enough of this stuff !!
