I didn't want to steal the other post. I had this chair up a long time ago. I think ! ;D This chair was my grandparents. I feel like I've taken good care of it. I wipe with a damp cloth vacuum. I had it in a guest room. My daughter moved and took that room and covered it. I finally took it out of there. When I uncovered it I noticed some damage. The arms I think is some wear and tear. Do you think it's dry rot? Then there was a problem at the bottom corner of needle point. Who would you get to repair it? Or would you leave it alone?

I think you should be able to find someone who could touch that up for little cost. Just needs an expert hand and a few minutes.

Find the best upholsterer in town and turn them loose. Repairing the damage shouldn't be too horrible, since you seem to have caught it early on.

It's been covered for a long time. I ran an "Old English" it! I felt it would be okay covered. The room wasn't designed for my daughter, but she's a boomerang and keeps coming home! ;D We just repainted, and I moved the chair out of there. I do the "Neat Chant"! Then I have a drum set in the middle of the floor! I hate drums in the house! ;D I need earplugs. ;D I always say you great! But, my husband made a rule, no playing after he comes home from work. Lol, thanks! I'm the lucky recipient!

[/quote... if its "dry rot"..it could affect the rest of your furniture as it is very contagious...better not take any chances,...chop it up and stick it in the fire... ;D

A room without a humidifier is hard on old furniture !! Remember the bowls of water that sat on the stove top ?? If it were mine and there is room,, I would stick it in the bathroom for a while !! Steam from showers ect will help add moisture back, although it will take a while !! Are any of the joints loose ??

then you,ll end up with wet rot....better burning it now...at least you,ll get some good out of it..heat for your loose joints.... ;D...

Bigwull are you say you hate my chair? It's okay though. That's why they make chocolate and vanilla It's very sentimental to me. The chair is very sturdy and there are no structural problems. This chair sat in my grandmother's living room near her piano.

Nice piece. You aren't in a real dry climate but I wouldn't think that some light oiling would hurt?
