Title: I like odd things,help!

Bought this piece today along with two other items. Not too sure what its purpose is,laughing gas? It is marked Buffalo Dental MFG CO. Buffalo N.Y pat Sep19 1899. I love unique things and thought this one fell in that category. There are 3 valves on top,air inlet,air outlet,gas outlet. In my short search all I had found was blowtorch,odd from a dental company. Regardless I find it very cool!

All we can see is a top view !! And its sideways  !!  Where is the company name ??  I think Nitrous Oxide has to be pressurized !!  So don`t think thats it !!

Sorry for the sideway pics,no idea how to fix that. I take my pics from an iPad. If you click image it is straight,at least for me. Here's the maker mark,sideways!

Wow! Good work Rauville,seems to be a very complex piece. Way over my head. Do think this has any type of value?

OK !!  Finally got to read part of it anyway !!  What possible use was a gas generator with a blowpipe in an 1899 dental office ??

I would assume that any dental office that does their own lab work today still uses a blowpipe of some type.

Lab work is not a common thing for dental offices !!  Even today  !!  A slide or smear ,possibly, but they wouldn`t need a blow pipe or heat for that !!

OK,, Had to go find what this thing was used for !!  It was used to melt gold for fillings !!  Didn`t even think about fillings !!

Yup,well done mart. I did find that out earlier,you beat me to the post! Now that I know what it's purpose is I would like to know its value,may never know,probably not much. There's not a lot of info on google. I only paid 5 bucks,didn't break me.

Check ebay for dental collectables !!  I would guess maybe $20. or $25. !! But I could be wrong !!
