I know this is not old,but I am a complete rookie when it comes to precious metals. From the quick research I have done it is Italian. I always worry when I post worthless items, like my bag of candy, which was a hit. That's why I use this site.

Looks like crystal and sterling if I am reading it correctly !! Its blurred on top line when enlarged !! And its sideways !!

Poor Buddie.......totall y mucked up this thread. Back to the topic, basically nothing that I could find except this blurb from a few years ago on another forum. Confirms the crystal/silver, Italian....either made by or distributed by a company under the name Susy.

From those tiny pics, the object of the thread looks to be very similar to yours.....but again, no helpful info. :(

No football for me wullie.....neither your kind nor ours. Harness racing is my passion, must have been born in the barn. ;)
-
Good memory, game on? Sapphire rocks eh?
-
Buddie, if you ever pass through north Edmonton, give Castle Downs a wave from me (you can use just one finger if you like). Left that city in '77 and never looked back. Back 'home' for me ;)
-
Everyone lost me on this thread except Buddie11 !!

Well!! ..Shut that bloody Door!! ;D
-
This is where you'll find me...........when I find the chance :D No longer in the barns or at the other end of the reins, just behind the camera now.
-
Back to Buddie.......have you checked the entire silver portion for any marks? Does it detach from the crystal 'dish' ?
-
trotting is what its called over here...and its very popular with the travelling community...or Romany,s...to give them there proper name...see link to illegal race that took place on a public road very early in the morning....

Sapphire it is glued to the base,no marks. I can't see it being silver but what do I know. By the way thanks for sticking up for the Bluenoser. Lived in Edmonton ten, sucked

Argento is Italian for silver and I believe I saw 925 on the label......which represents the purity. ;)
-
Well hopefully it is something,it is a fairly heavy chunk of metal for its size and it does say 925. Thanks again sapphire

Nobody got "In through the out door?" ??? And that's their worst album!
Surely we've got some 40+, 50+, 60+ers here on the forum? Sheesh.
"Nobody's fault but mine"
-
Buddie11, i would recommend having it tested for silver content.
Argento 925 is in fact (like the others state) is a marking used for Sterling silver...however, I have seen this used (labeled) on crystal glassware that there isn't even a sparkle of silver on it.
You can purchase a silver testing solution that will change color according to the silver content.
*Pure 98% fine silver or higher: Drop turns Bright blood red with grey stain residue.
*Sterling 925 silver: the drop will turn dark red with a dark brown stain residue.
*.800 or lower: the drop will turn almost a chocolate brown with a dark brown stain residue.
