Newbee here...
I've been a coin collector for over 10 years now and I'm just starting to get into antiques. I've bought several antique books in order to educate myself. I've limited my purchases to $50 or less until I feel comfortable knowing what I am buying.
I ran into this cup at a flea market and talked the owner down to $10. I liked it due to the maker's mark and the look of it being a handmade piece possibly (It's not perfectly round, etc.) When I got it home I looked through my Kovels' book and found a "similar" MM but not exactly as my figure is smaller. I tried on-line and am stumped as well. The Maker's mark reads:
MERIDEN SILVER PLATE COMPANY QUADRUPLE PLATE.
The pictures are very large so you can blow them up pretty good.
Thanks for any help, it's very appreciated.

Said the numbered pieces are limited editions but not sure how it was numbered !! i think this number is the style number !! Some of their stuff sells pretty high !!

If you have the patience you might want to scan through these 7 pages to see if you can find similar to yours with selling price.

Thanks for the links.
I assume with butterflies and birds on it and it standing 3 5/8 In. tall that it is a "Child's cup?"
-
yes i would say so
-
It's the bottom right one... I believe it to be the gold lined one.

Wow! We were both looking at the same thing at the same time ;)

A childs cup would likely be more popular with collectors than a similar adult size !!

Yepper a child's cup. The less ornate sell pretty cheaply. But yours is the more ornate one - in etched detail and in handle detail. $75 easy in my neck of the woods!!! These nicer ones can sell up to $100 - even tho silverplate and Meridien!!!
