Saw this cool looking item, wasn't exactly sure what it was used for? Any help please!

looks like a little occassional table for holding glasses

I don't think so, wouldn't make much sense for the top circle if it were to just hold glasses. I can't figure it out anywhere!

What is the diameter of the hole ??  Does it look like it was originally made this way or maybe altered later ??  May be a plant stand !!  African violets were popular in late victorian period and they are grown in small pots !! Maybe one went in each hole ??  Is anything written on it ??  Is it all wood or does it have a metal base ??

There was a pic yesterday !! Its a stand not a table,, tripod legs single pole, two shelves graduated size with small holes around the perimeter !!
