Title: Hidden Treasures!!!
Post by: swilson798 on April 08, 2013, 05:27:46 PM
Found this site and apparently its a little shop in Memphis at the Peabody Hotel........ Its a gold mine I bought a painting 2 weeks ago which was appraised at $1,500.00 for 300 Bucks.......    DO these paintings look legit?     http://samuelnathan.com/

Well they're modern and not my cup of tea but if you like them !

And if you can buy 9 of 1 picture i'm guessing they're prints or oilettes ?!!

Blimey.

These are oil paintings! I am just shocked because I bought 2 and got them appraised and the guy was like you got lucky with these finds, they were each valued over $1000 each! I sort of want to buy like 2 more and re sell them  hahaha   ;D

But you can order several of each one ?!

The valuation is based on very little.

you,ll have no doubt heard the sayings ..."don,t put all your eggs in one basket"..or "pig in a poke".well...from where i,m sitting...you should take heed...Has it never occurred to you, that...if the people you bought these paintings from..thought they could get that kind of money per painting....you would,nt have them.... ;D

Yeah sounds to good to be true. Try to sell the ones you have and if you are successful go from there... it is a little bit of an investment to buy a few more ($1200 worth of an investment)

Thats very very true.... ! I dont know I may take my chances with these ones here and try and re sell. I think the person who made the site accidently made it so you can buy a higher quantity because when I bought my 2 they were immediatly removed from this site.

What makes you think the site owner did anything by accident...again from where i,m sitting....its like he knew exactly what he was doing..."dangling carrots spring to mind"......

It means nothing that there are not enough to put in your cart. They are out of stock. If you feel the paintings are worth that kind of money it wouldn't hurt to have a second appraisal.

He,s probably got his big fishing rod out...and his even bigger net....for catching all those dumb ...fish that keep coming back for more....may i suggest you do some serious research...on final sales of this artists work...before you commit yourself to buying ....too many little "pinky & perky,s.".. ;D

Kinkade's work is printed on to canvas - you could have bought one of those.

Well their $2,000 carved ivory lion looks like resin and the scent / snuff bottles they claim are c1900 are nowhere near that old.

This would cost about £10 in the UK at the most. It was made nowhere near 1850

Problem with his giclee prints is that after he died the secondary market went haywire !! And the printmakers that owned licenses to reproduce his work started printing like crazy before the estate took over !!

It was a pleasant dream, while it lasted....mind you..i think many of us have been in the same position....I know i have.....I even went as far as spending the money that i thought i was going to get...long before..i found out that my "valuable"antique...was in fact a fake...and it did,nt even make enough to cover what i paid for it....but as i,d only paid £25..in the first place..the loss was easier to swallow...gulp!! ;D
