These were part of the antiques I received from my father.
My father spent a lot of time in the middle east in the 70's-80's. So i am assuming this was a gift he received when he was over there. But I may be wrong.
Found a similar knife I guess it's called a "wahabite" http://www.ashokaarts.com/shop/large-arabian-wahabite-jambiya-dagger

This is a VERY cool folding knife, with some sort of ratchet, that locks the knife in position every 1/2" inch. I think it says
A Garcia Albaceta. You can see the gears in the first picture to the right of blade. Here is a similar knife by the same maker http://www.swordsantiqueweapons.com/s246_full.html

I usually refer to them as Jambiya's, smaller than Talwars or Pulwars. Lots of them made and can fetch anything from £20 to £100 if not military
The Albacete folding knife is by Alvaro Garcia and you're better off posting it on a specialist knife / blade forum.

There you go, ...at this rate you,ll be making us reduntant.... ;D

Yeah, with a well known name on the blade so needs to be checked. Not worth bucket loads but it's a nice knife
( as nice as weapons can be before being used ! )

My brother-in-law has a vast collection..well over 750...that he bought on ebay...before they were banned,...now they are virtually worthless,as he has no way of selling them on...most of them did,nt cost a lot...but he did go a little bonkers and buy some of those over priced Franklin Mint jobbies...

I would think a "clip point" would be somewhat unusual on a butcher knife. The main reason for that style point is for stabbing...such as found on a fighting knife. I almost think of a "theater knife", made by a soldier or sailor during wartime when I look at this one. I have one made by my Father during WWII that has a very similar shaped blade. Interesting regardless.

I am glad I joined this forum! I am learning much more than I expected.
Anyone have any clue on how old they are?

Just recently started buying and selling and collecting and these cranky old guys that you hear from are pretty smart and are a pretty good bucket of info. As for the ladies on this site I feel like they are much sweeter and well behaved with an other boat load of info... It's a great site which from what I have seen people only stop in once to get an item's value from these guys before they go and sell it and never post again.
