Title: Alfred Meakin
Post by: clacksta on April 28, 2013, 02:11:22 PM
Complete tea set, 5 cups, 5 saucers,
1 milk jug, sugar bowl and saucer, tall teapot.
I cannot seem to find this one anyware,
I did however find a design like if same
Shaped cups etc different pattern, and is
Called I think spirngwood from around the
Mid 70s. I am making an assumption that
the set I have is also from the same time,
Due to the shapes

Yes I thought I was a bit strange too! The reason I made the assumption is because all the cups have no maker mark on the bottom but the all saucers do, the sugar bowl had no makers mark, that's why I first thought the extra saucer went with the sugar bowl. Now I'm feeling a rather silly!  :-[

Not all pieces are marked in a set by some companies !! I think you are correct on 70`s era !!   Later Meakin doesn`t sell particularly high or well !!  This set maybe $20. to $30. on a good day !! I had an older Meakin sugar & creamer I listed on ebay a while back,, no bids !! Sent it to thrift store !!

Pretty set but will not sell for much as mart said if at all. Now if this was one of Meakin's art deco style sets it would sell for a good price!

If it was Art Deco it wouldn't be going anywhere! I love Art Deco!
