I know that it is some kind of restaurant press but not sure what kind.

Looks like a sausage 'press' to me , xatiayn .
Empty casings (intestines) would be placed on the outlet & hand force (via the hand-crank) would provide the oomph to extrude the ground meat/etc. into it .

FYI...they were also used as a fruit press!!!

interesting...straw berry sausages,....i,ve had pork & apple...but...Fruit one,s...well, no never... ;D

I don't think strawberry sausage sounds appealing at all. But I will try (most things) once.
